About Bayonne High School & Bayonne Technical High School

Bayonne High School has been located in different buildings over the years. Just prior to the new building (1936) it was located at 31st street and the Boulevard (1914-1936). That building still exists and is now Public Scholl # 3. In 1936 new buildings were built with the middle wing used for The Bayonne Junior College. The high school was located in the south building, named the Daniel P. Sweeney High School for a principal of the old school who had died of a heart attack at his desk.

Although its official name was Sweeney Senior High School, it was nearly always referred to as "Bayonne High". The north wing was officially called the General Casmir Pulaski Vocational and Technical High School, or simply "Tech".
