The Secaucus Library will be holding their annual book fair in their parking lot. This event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Hudson County Genealogical Society will also have a table to answer questions about our efforts to preserve Hudson County history and promote genealogy.

The Jersey City Free Public Library and the Jersey City Municipal Council will be holding a book festival at Van Vorst Park in Jersey City. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Hudson County Genealogical Society will also be in attendance to answer questions about our efforts to preserve Hudson County history and promote genealogy.

Speaker: Cynthia Harris, Director of the New Jersey Room at the Jersey City Free Public Library will provide an in-depth tour of the family history and genealogy resources available in the New Jersey Room.

May 10, 2008

Speaker: Leon Yost, noted Documentary Photographer, local activist with the Jersey City Landmarks Conservatory and the Vice Chairman of the Jersey City Planning Board will give a short talk on preservation efforts underway in Jersey City and answer questions about preservation and Jersey City history. Preceding Leon will be an entertaining video by Bob Leach, the Director of the Jersey City Historical project and noted local raconteur. His film “Parade of the Shantytown Dead” provides a look at part of the history of Jersey City in the 1850s and touches on the origin of St. Joseph's Church and Jersey City Cemetery.
