Celebrating 350 Years of Hudson County's Heritage History Fair
About the History Fair
On Saturday October 9, 2010 10:00 am - 5:00 pm the Come Home to History: Celebrating 350 Years of Hudson County's Heritage history fair was held to observe the 350th anniversary of the founding of the first European settlement, Bergen, in what later became Hudson County. The well-attended event was held at the Hudson County Community College Culinary Conference Center, 161 Newkirk Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306.
The fair showcased many organizations throughout the County dedicated to keeping local history alive. Activities included exhibits, speakers, and workshops for all ages and diverse interests.
The organizers of the event included the Hudson County Genealogical Society, Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery, Jersey City Free Public Library, New Jersey City University, Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy, and Embankment Preservation Coalition
The event was sponsored by Hudson County Executive Thomas A. DeGise; Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders; Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs and Tourism; City of Jersey City, Jerramiah T. Healy, Mayor; Jersey City Municipal Council; Jersey City Division of Cultural Affairs; Hudson County Community College; Hudson County History Advocates; and the Jersey City Historical Project.
