“Come Home to History” Fair Announced: Call for Participants and Exhibits at the October 9, 2010 Event

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Hudson County Genealogical Society and several historic preservation, research, and genealogical groups have announced “Come Home to History: Celebrating 350 Years of Hudson County's Heritage,” a history fair scheduled for Saturday, October 9, 2010 to observe the 350th anniversary of the founding of the first European settlement, Bergen, in what later became Hudson County.

Hudson County Genealogical Society Sponsors School Essay Contest

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Hudson County Genealogical Society is sponsoring an essay contest for the public school children of Jersey City to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the founding on the Town of Bergen, the first permanent European settlement in New Jersey. In cooperation with the Jersey City Board of Education, the Jersey City Free Public Library, and New Jersey City University, the contest continues the tradition of similar events held for the 250th anniversary in 1910 and the 300th anniversary in 1960.
