News ReleasesFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Hudson County Genealogical Society Wins "Honoring Our Ancestors" GrantAPRIL 14, 2008 – JERSEY CITY, NJ. — The Hudson County Genealogical Society has won a March 2008 “Honoring Our Ancestors” Grant from Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak. Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak, the noted genealogist and author of such books as They Came to America: Finding Your Immigrant Ancestors, sponsors grants to individuals, small groups or organizations to further projects of genealogical or historical significance. Megan has selected one grant each month since inception of this program in 2000. The HCGS is proud to accept this grant of $500 to further its mission to preserve Hudson County history. About the Hudson County Genealogical SocietyThe Hudson County Genealogical Society, a 501 (c)(3) New Jersey Non Profit Corporation, was formed in October 2007 to promote the study of genealogy and the history of Hudson County. The goal of the society is to collect, preserve and index this information in cooperation with local libraries and internet resources, to encourage adherence to the highest standards of research and documentation, to offer educational programs such as lectures, seminars and workshops and to promote the observance of Family History month. |
