FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Hudson County Genealogical Society Holy Name Cemetery Index Project Underway

AUGUST 29, 2008 – JERSEY CITY, NJ. — Holy Name Cemetery on West Side Avenue in Jersey City, NJ is THE cemetery for Roman Catholics in the area and The Hudson County Genealogial Society now has well underway its project of compiling volunteer data of burials there into a publicly accessible database that will be available on its web site.

Volunteers who wish to contribute data they have collected over the years to the project can download a Microsoft Excel template, enter the information and submit it back to the HCGS to be merged into the database. Over 50 surnames have been completed to date and submitted.

About the Hudson County Genealogical Society

The Hudson County Genealogical Society, a 501 (c)(3) New Jersey Non Profit Corporation, was formed in October 2007 to promote the study of genealogy and the history of Hudson County. The goal of the society is to collect, preserve and index this information in cooperation with local libraries and internet resources, to encourage adherence to the highest standards of research and documentation, to offer educational programs such as lectures, seminars and workshops and to promote the observance of Family History month.
