Come Home to History Fair Announced
Call for Participants and Exhibits at the October 9, 2010 Event
MAY 27, 2010 -- JERSEY CITY, NJ -- The Hudson County Genealogical Society and several historic preservation, research, and genealogical groups have announced Come Home to History: Celebrating 350 Years of Hudson County's Heritage, a history fair to observe the 350th anniversary of the founding of the first European settlement, Bergen, in what later became Hudson County.
Come Home to History is scheduled for Saturday, October 9, 2010, from 11 am to 6 pm at the Hudson County Community College Culinary Institute Conference Center, 161 Newkirk Street, Jersey City, New Jersey. The fair will showcase many organizations throughout the County dedicated to keeping local history alive. Activities will include exhibits, speakers, tours, and workshops for all ages and diverse interests. Related events are planned for before and after the Saturday event.
The organizers, which include the Hudson County Genealogical Society, Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery, Jersey City Free Public Library, Jersey City State University, Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy, and Embankment Preservation Coalition, are issuing a call for exhibitors.
Interested parties are encouraged to download and fill out the application, and send it via email to Bob Murgittroyd at bobmurg@gmail.com. The deadline is June 30, 2010.

About the Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society
The Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society, a 501 (c)(3) New Jersey Non Profit Corporation, was formed in October 2007 to promote the study of genealogy and the history of Hudson County. The goal of the society is to collect, preserve and index this information in cooperation with local libraries and internet resources, to encourage adherence to the highest standards of research and documentation, to offer educational programs such as lectures, seminars and workshops and to promote the observance of Family History month.
